Maruti Stotra

bhīmarūpī mahārudrā, vajra-hanumāna mārutī ।
vanārī anjanīsūtā, rāmadūtā prabhanjanā ॥ 1 ॥
O Maruti of formidable form, the great Rudra, Hanuman with a body hard as the vajra (thunderbolt); fire to the forest of demons, son of Anjani, messenger of Rama, mighty as the storm-wind.
mahābaḷī prānadātā, sakaḷā ūthavī baḷe ।
saukhyakārī shokahartā, dhūrta vaishnava gāyakā ॥ 2 ॥
Immensely strong, the giver of life who raises up all with his might; bringer of joy and remover of grief, adept and expert, the singer among the devotees of Vishnu.
dīnanāthā harīrūpā, sundarā jagadantarā ।
pātāla-devatā-hantā, bhavya-sindūra-lepanā ॥ 3 ॥
Protector of the humble, the very image of Hari, beautiful one who dwells within all the world; slayer of the demons of Patala (the netherworld), magnificent in your coating of sindoor (vermilion).
lokanāthā jagannāthā, prānanāthā purātanā ।
punyavantā punyashīḷā, pāvanā paritoshakā ॥ 4 ॥
Lord of the worlds, lord of the universe, lord of the life-breath, the ancient one; full of merit, virtuous in conduct, the purifier who delights all.
dhvajāgre uchalī bāho, āveshe lotalā pudhe ।
kāḷāgni kāḷarudrāgni, dekhatā kāmpatī bhaye ॥ 5 ॥
Raising his arm to the tip of the flagstaff, he surges forward in fervour; even the fire of Time and the fire of Rudra at the great dissolution tremble in fear at the sight of him.
brahmānde māīlī nenon, āmvaḷe danta-pangatī ।
netrāgni chālilyā jvāḷā, bhrukutī tāthilyā baḷe ॥ 6 ॥
Who knows how many universes are held in the clench of his rows of teeth; flames stream forth from his fiery eyes, and his brows are drawn taut with power.
puchchha te muradile māthā, kirītī kundale barī ।
suvarna kati kāmsotī, ghantā kinkini nāgarā ॥ 7 ॥
His tail curls up over his head; a crown and fine earrings adorn him; a golden loincloth is at his waist, with bells and a tinkling girdle — most elegant.
thakāre parvatā aisā, netakā sadapātaḷū ।
chapaḷānga pāhatā mothe, mahā-vidyullateparī ॥ 8 ॥
He stands imposing as a mountain, yet trim and slender of frame; behold his agile form — vast, and dazzling like a great flash of lightning.
kotichyā koti uddāne, jhepāve uttarekade ।
mandrādrī-sārikhā dronū, krodhe utpātilā baḷe ॥ 9 ॥
With leaps of crores upon crores he sprang away to the north; in his wrath he tore up by sheer force the Drona mountain, huge as Mount Mandara [to bring the sanjivani herb for Lakshmana].
ānilā māgutī nelā, ālā gelā manogatī ।
manāsī tākile māge, gatīsī tuḷanā nase ॥ 10 ॥
He brought the mountain, and carried it back again — coming and going at the speed of thought; he has left the mind itself behind, and his speed knows no comparison.
anupāsoni brahmāndā-evadhā hota jātase ।
tayāsī tuḷanā kothe, merumandāra dhākute ॥ 11 ॥
From the size of an atom he grows to the size of the universe; where is his equal? Even the mountains Meru and Mandara stand dwarfed before him.
brahmāndām-bhovate vedhe, vajra-puchchhe karū shake ।
tayāsī tuḷanā kainchī, brahmāndī pāhatā nase ॥ 12 ॥
With his vajra-like tail he can encircle the whole universe; what comparison can there be for him? Search all creation — there is none.
ārakta dekhile doḷā, grāsile sūryamandaḷā ।
vādhatā vādhatā vādhe, bhedile shūnyamandaḷā ॥ 13 ॥
Seeing the crimson orb of the sun, he swallowed it; growing and growing he grew, until he pierced the very void beyond the heavens.
dhana-dhānya pashu-vriddhi, putra-pautra samastahī ।
pāvatī rūpa-vidyādi, stotra-pāthe karuniyā ॥ 14 ॥
Wealth and grain, increase of cattle, sons and grandsons — all these, together with beauty, learning and more, come to those who recite this stotra.
bhūta-preta-samandhādi, roga-vyādhi samastahī ।
nāsatī tutatī chintā, ānande bhīma-darshane ॥ 15 ॥
Ghosts, spirits, haunting influences, and all diseases and ailments are destroyed; worries are cut away, in the bliss of beholding Bhima (Hanuman of the formidable form).
he dharā pandharā shlokī, lābhalī shobhalī barī ।
dridha-deho nisandeho, sankhyā chandrakaḷā gune ॥ 16 ॥
Hold to these fifteen verses, well gained and gracious; they grant a firm body and freedom from doubt — their number mirroring the fifteen digits of the waxing moon.
rāmadāsī agraganya, kapikulāsi mandanū ।
rāmarūpī antarātmā, darshane dosha nāsatī ॥ 17 ॥
Foremost among the servants of Rama, the ornament of the monkey clan; with Rama dwelling within him as his inner soul — at his darshan (sight) all faults are destroyed.
