Introducing Sankalp — A Personal Commitment Tracker
A small, quiet addition to help you show up for your practice every day.
In Sanskrit, a sankalp (संकल्प) is more than a resolution. It is a sacred intention — a conscious vow made before beginning a practice. When you declare a sankalp, you are not just setting a goal. You are inviting the divine to witness your commitment.
Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa is one of the most powerful daily practices in the Hindu tradition. Devotees recite it once, eleven times, or even a hundred times in a single sitting. Many undertake a forty-day sankalp — reciting daily without break — as a way of deepening their devotion and seeking Hanuman's blessings.
We have now built a simple sankalp tracker directly into this site. It is entirely optional and lives quietly at the top of the page, available only to those who choose to sign in.
Signing in
The site remains exactly as it was. For those who want to track their practice, a "Sign in with Google" button now appears alongside the existing controls.
Making your sankalp
After signing in, a card appears inviting you to begin your sankalp. You choose how many times per day you wish to recite, and over how many days. The presets reflect traditional Hindu numbers — 1, 11, 21, and 100 recitations; durations of 1, 7, 11, 21, and 40 days. If you prefer to simply count without a fixed goal, "You decide" mode lets the counter run freely.
Tracking your practice
Once your sankalp is active, the card shows your day progress and today's count. Each dot represents one recitation. Tap + 1 🙏 after completing each reading of the Chalisa.
For those in "You decide" mode, the counter simply shows a number — no target, no pressure. Just an honest record of how many times you showed up today.
Begin your sankalp today. The Chalisa awaits.
